SANFORD SCHWARTZ
Sanford Schwartz is a bassoonist and recording engineer presently located in New York City. His performance experience engulfs the entire span of classical music, from the baroque period to the contemporary. Since moving to the city in 2021, he has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, National Sawdust, City Center, and the DiMenna Center. Sanford has recently appeared with the Village Verein, Richmond County Orchestra, New Amsterdam Symphony Orchestra, and is a regular guest member of several collegiate ensembles. He attended the 2025 Bayreuth Festival as a Richard Wagner Scholar, thanks to support from the Wagner Society of New York. In 2024, he performed a solo recital of all contemporary music, including a world premiere, at the International Double Reed Society's conference in Flagstaff, AZ. As a recording engineer, he specializes in recording acoustic music, live and on location. He frequently records orchestras, recitals, choirs, chamber music, and jazz. When he isn't performing or recording, Sanford is an avid audience member and record collector. Sanford holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in music performance from Michigan State University and the Mannes School of Music, respectively.
